Angel Tong is a Church Planter with AMMiC. In answering the questions below she outlines their future plans. (Shown in the photo with husband Luke Lo and daughter Kitty Lo.)
How are plans developing? Initially about 15-20 brothers and sisters show much interest in exploring the opportunity to participate in this new church plant. They all came from different denominational background. We are praying for firm commitment, humble spirit and teachable hearts for our core group leaders.
Is a team coming together and how? We started gathering people in August, and now we are meeting weekly: every 1st & 3rd Fridays meeting online for “Faith Talks”, in order to build a strong foundation of the Anglican faith; every 2nd and 4th Fridays for in person fellowship. I am also having a biweekly meeting with a couple of the English-speaking young adults on Sunday afternoons.
Do you have a target time and place as yet? I do not have a definite target time yet, but am looking at maybe some time at the beginning of next year, God willing.
We are still in search of a suitable meeting place location. At present we are meeting at the AMMiC Center for our Friday fellowship gatherings. At the same time, we do prayer walks around the Burnaby and Coquitlam area.
What steps do you forsee? As Canada is a multicultural society, mission is already at our doorsteps. Sharing the gospel to Asian immigrants has always been our vision and passion.
We know that there is another wave of Hong Kong immigrants coming to Canada. We want to prepare ourselves to welcome them, bringing the gospel to the Cantonese and Mandarin immigrants. We would like to build a strong family ministry, catering to the needs of the first and second generation of the family where children and young people will also become the followers of Christ.
